As the sun sets on the remarkable era of Nick Saban's tenure as Alabama's head coach, a new dawn is breaking with rising quarterback star, Jalen Milroe. Saban's departure from Alabama football, following a third straight thwarted attempt at the College Football Playoff National Championship, marks the end of an illustrious coaching career. Saban leaves behind a legacy of six national championships at Alabama, matching the record set by Paul W. "Bear" Bryant.

Stepping into Saban's shoes is Kalen DeBoer, who has already begun to make his mark on the Alabama football program. DeBoer has assembled a stellar coaching team, ensured the continuation of key players, and has started building strong relationships on the recruiting trail.

The 2023 SEC Championship's Most Valuable Player, Milroe, is enthusiastic about playing under Coach DeBoer. While he acknowledges and appreciates all that Saban did for him, Milroe is confident that DeBoer will elevate the team to new heights.

"We are all hungry, we all want more," Milroe stated about the team's eagerness to work with DeBoer. "We all have the same mindset as a football team. He [Coach DeBoer] is going to push us to be where we want to be in the future, so the biggest thing we have to do is build a relationship and be where our feet are. That is not going to change. I am super excited to have Coach DeBoer here, and the young guys that will be a part of our program."

Milroe is also eager to demonstrate that he can retain the starting quarterback position for Alabama. Last season, he racked up an impressive 2,834 passing yards and 35 total touchdowns, leading the Tide to an SEC Championship and the College Football Playoff. Yet, Milroe is not complacent. He recognizes the need for improvement, especially in his short to intermediate passing game during spring practice.

If Milroe can hone this aspect of his game, he stands poised to become a formidable force in the football field. The future of Alabama football is bright with the likes of DeBoer and Milroe leading the charge.
